Daily Art 2011: Days 005-007

Just catching up on the latest from my daily art project:

DAY 005

Practicing my comic-y stylings with Misha Collins as Castiel from Supernatural. After taking this picture, I decided I needed to "fine-tune" one little thing, and completely ruined it all. If I learn nothing else from doing this project, I hope to learn to stop overworking everything until it's crap. :D

DAY 006

I found a museum archive of these amazing photos of First Nations people from across North America, and they lend themselves really well to this medium of charcoal on brown paper. I'll probably do a ton more of these, I love how this one came out.

DAY 007

Another charcoal and brown paper piece; this is Rufus Sewell as Tom Builder in the awesome miniseries Pillars of the Earth. I couldn't get the expression right, but I like it anyway. :)

The Castiel one turned out pretty nifty - what did you use for that?

And I love love love your charcoal ones. It's one of my fave mediums and these look awesome. Most especially the first one.

Er. I thought the last one was Robert Downey, the guy who was both Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes?

Wasn't Rufus Sewell that guy who was in the American remake of 11th Hour? That was so horribly preachy and the Patrick Stewart (UK) version had been about the science instead. I'm afraid that I assumed it was Sewell's fault without any evidence.

I do hope you can learn to stop when you're done. It's harder than it sounds but I wish you success.

I haven't worked with the brush pens - I'll have to give it a try. Especially if it's similar to ink but not as messy.

Yay for more charcoal \o/
