horse.hacks: How to stuff a haynet in 30 seconds!

The fine folks at The Horse First Farm in Wisconsin have created a brilliant invention... a bucket turned funnel that they can use to speed-load hay bags for the horses. I love how necessity breeds innovation... and how horse people can create just about anything from stuff they found in the barn. (It helps that you can find almost anything in a barn. They just attract miscellaneous objects.)

On the one hand, very clever!

On the other hand, we've been filling hay nets in about the same amount of time for ages without needing any special bucket. Upend hay bale, put hay bag over, flip and hang, then cut the twine and pull it free. No muss, no fuss!

I like your method, too! But, our hay nets are kind of smaller than average and the bales we stuff them with weigh 1400 pounds, so... the funnel was born!

Heh, I can see how a bale that size might be a bit tough to upend!
