It really wasn't that spectacular... I'd hoped to blog about it but it would make kind of a boring blog, to be honest. :D We pretty much just put the dogs in harness, and then worked on getting them to push into the harness, then did some very basic stuff on how to line-out, gee and haw, and so on. I was actually doing better stuff (and got a lot better training suggestions) just based on what I'd been reading online about how to train dogs to pull. It was awesome of the instructors to teach us, but it wasn't as enlightening as I'd hoped. Got some good practice again at having Tru around other dogs, though. Was reminded he's still often a bastard, I really had to keep on top of him to keep him from lunging at the other dogs, and the other owners weren't terribly good at the whole "keep your dogs out of other dogs' space" thing, even though they were told this repeatedly by the teachers. Trudeau was actually one of the better-behaved dogs there, which kind of tells you about the company we were keeping. ;D

Anyway, we didn't do anything with actual skis (which was good, because I hadn't rented any)... none of the dogs were really under control enough to do it anyway. ;D I did get Tru measured for a harness though and ordered that and a tug line... just need to get a skijor belt and we'll be set to do canicross at least. Apparently the local musher's association even has some dryland mushing races, though it sounds like maybe they do their canicross on snowshoes. o.O In any event, there's a dog sled race in town in March, which I'm incredibly excited about photographing, so no doubt I'll be picspamming you after that happens... there are a bunch of races in the greater area throughout the winter, but I can't get to the others in my truck. :(
